The heating season has started, and households in the southern districts of the ISEZ and the upper quarters of Iyık Janyl are buying winter coal. Household coal in the south comes mainly from the Tash-Kömür mines.

Kyrgyzstan introduced a 90-day state price control on coal for households from 22 October. Irad has no state regulation of household coal prices, and no such measure has been announced.

Sellers say prices are steady. Buyers worry about both the cost and the smoke: on 23 October Nurzhan's air quality index reached 161, unhealthy, with PM2.5 at 69.6 µg/m³. Iyık Janyl stood at 118 and Talas at 110.
